Symptoms

When a new company is created an error message similary to the folllwing is displayed and the new

company is cannot be used:

A new company could not be created because the server 'xxx' could not be verified.


Cause

This problem can occur if the database server is not running.


Resolution

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:


First, check to see that the Solatech database server is installed.

  1. Click Start, Control Panel.
  2. Double-click on Administrative tools.
  3.  Double-click on Services.
  4. Scroll down the list of services and look for one called MSSQL$SOLATECHDB
  5. If you do not see this service then the Solatech database server is not installed. Follow the steps in the following sections to install the Solatech database server. Once that has been done you will be able to create and open companies in your software. If you see the server name listed then continue with the section 'Starting a stopped service'


Installing the Solatech database server - from a CD

  1. Locate your Solatech software CD and insert it in to your CD-ROM drive.
  2. Open My Computer and then navigate to the 'disk1' folder on the CD.
  3. Double-click on the program msdeinst.exe.
  4. Once this has run you may need to restart your computer.


Installing the Solatech database server - from a download

  1. From your Internet browser type in the following URL:                                                                                                                                                                                                                              http://www.solatechonline.com/downloads/solatechmsde.exe and press Enter.
  2. When prompted to Save, Run or Open choose Save and save the file to a folder on your computer - like your Desktop.
  3. Once the download is complete, close your Internet browser, the Solatech Window Covering Software and any other open applications.
  4. Double-click on the saved file you just downloaded. This will automatically extract the setup files. Once extracted the setup will start automatically.
  5. Once setup is complete you may need to restart your computer.


Starting a stopped service

  1. Click Start, Control Panel.
  2. Double-click on Administrative tools.
  3. Double-click on Services.
  4. Scroll down the list of services and look for one called MSSQL$SOLATECHDB
  5. Right-click on the name of this service and click Start.
  6. Close the Services window and close Control Panel.


Status

Under certain cirumstances the Solatech database server does not get installed during the

installation of the software. Solatech is researching this problem and will post new information when

available.
