Summary

This article explains how to convert a Roaming Workstation installation of the Solatech Window

Covering Software to a Local Workstation installation.

More Information

Converting a Roaming Workstation installation to a Local Workstation installation requires

  • Changing the software license on the computer
  • Making some adjustments to the Windows Registry

Changing the Software License

The software license is what the Solatech Window Covering Software uses to determine how it should

function, as a Roaming Workstation or a Local Workstation. Once the new Local Workstation license

has been created by Solatech and you have received your CD Key, you need to remove the Roaming

Workstation license and install the new Local Workstation license.

  1. If SWCS is running, close it.
  2. Navigate to the folder \Program Files\Solatech\WCS 4. On 64 bit systems, navigate to \Program Files (x86)\Solatech\WCS 4.
  3. Find the file called slmreset.exe and run it.
  4. From the list of applications, select Solatech Window Covering Software 4.x
  5. Enter the reset code that was provided to you.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Find the file called slmact.exe and run it.
  8. Select Solatech Window Covering Software 4.x and click Continue.
  9. When prompted, enter the new CD Key and click Unlock. This will create the new license.
  10. When prompted, activate your new license over the Internet.
  11. Do not run SWCS yet, follow the steps in the next section.

Adjusting the Registry

There are a few registry entries that should be deleted so that the software does not look for files

where it won't find them.

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may

require you to reinstall Windows to correct them. Solatech cannot guarantee that any problems

resulting from the use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk.

  1. Click Start, Run and enter "regedit".
  2. Navigate to the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Solatech\Window Covering Software\4.0\Profiles.
  3. Delete the entry "(sync)".
  4. Navigate to the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Solatech\Window Covering Software\4.0
  5. Delete the key "Settings (sync)".
  6. Navigate to the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Solatech\Window Covering Software\4.0
  7. Delete the entry "LastProfile".
  8. Close Registry Editor
