There are times when you may need to send a product file to Solatech. Follow these steps to
identify, locate and send the file. If Solatech needs to send the file back they will provide
instructions.
Identify the product to send
The first step is to identify the product you need to send. If you are working with the product in
Product Designer then you probably already know what product file you need to send. If you are
having a problem with a product in Order Entry then you need to find that product in Product
Designer so you can figure out what actual file to send
Identifying a product in Order Entry
- Run Order Entry.
- Select the product that you are having problems with.
- Make note of the product name from the product drop-down list.
- Close Order Entry.
- From the Products menu, click Product Manager.
- Click the Products by Status filter and then All Products.
- Find the product you identified in Order Entry in the list of products.
- Proceed to the next section.
Locating the product
Once you have identified the product you need to send, you need to determine the actual product file
that needs to be sent, as sometimes the product name is different than the product file name. There
are two steps in locating the product. The first is to determine the product file name, then you can
locate the actual file.
Determine the product file name
- From the Products menu, click Product Manager.
- Locate the product you want to send.
- From the toolbar, click Edit.
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- Make note of the file name. It will end in .mdb. This is the actual file name of the product database.
- Close Product Manager.
Locating the product
- From the File menu, click File Manager.
- Change the file type to Products.
- Find the file in the list based on the file name you found in Product Manager.
Note: There may be two files with the name name listed in File Manager. One will have a type
of XML Document file and the other will have either MDB File or Microsoft Office Access
Database. The latter is the file you want to send.
Sending the product
Once you have the product located you can send it by clicking the Send To button on the File
Manager toolbar. This will open Simple Data Transfer. Fill in the required fields and send the file
Solatech. When prompted for the e-mail address of the recipient, use support@solatech.com.
Another way to send the file is locate the file in Windows Explorer. Right-click on the file and choose
Send to, someone via Simple Data Transfer. This will also start the Simple Data Transfer utility
where you can fill in the required fields and send the file.
