Symptoms
When the SWCS 4.2 Installation Assistant attempts to download one or more files to install you
receive the following error message:
Unable to download the files (800)
Cause
This is typically caused by a firewall on the local network, either hardware or software, blocking the
SWCS 4.2 Installation Assistant from connecting to a Solatech file server. This may happen in an
network environment that is 'locked down' - one that has very limited external Internet access.
Workaround
To allow the SWCS 4.2 Installation Assistant to download the files it needs to install the software, the
firewall should be setup to specifically allow the SWCS 4.2 Installation Assistant application outbound
access to the Internet.
The SWCS 4.2 Installation Assistant application file that needs to be setup for access is: "C:\Program
Files\Solatech\Solatech WCS 4.2 Installation Assistant\swcs42ia.exe" or "C:\Program Files
(x86)\Solatech\Solatech WCS 4.2 Installation Assistant\swcs42ia.exe".
Contact your system administrator for help with setting up firewall rules for your network. If you are
using Windows Vista/7/8 you can follow these steps:
- Click Start, Control Panel.
- Double-click the icon for Windows Firewall.
- On the left sidebar, click Advanced Settings.
- On the left sidebar of Windows Firewall with Advanced Security, click Outbound Rules.
- On the right sidebar, click New Rule...
- Select Program and click Next.
- Select This program path and enter either "C:\Program Files\Solatech\Solatech WCS 4.2 Installation Assistant\swcs42ia.exe" or for 64-bit systems enter "C:\Program Files (x86)\Solatech\Solatech WCS 4.2 Installation Assistant\swcs42ia.exe"
- Click Next.
