Summary

This article explains how a user can perform advanced database management tasks on a SWCS 4.2

company database.

The Solatech Window Covering Software version 4.2 uses Microsoft SQL Server 2005 as it's database

engine. During installation, it installs Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, however this edition

does not include any user-interface tools to access the database and it's tables. To do this you must

use Microsoft SQL Server Management Express.

The Microsoft SQL Server Management Express is a free utility that you can use to: Create, modify

and delete databases, perform backups and access the raw data. This utility can be downloaded from

Microsoft at:

Note: Solatech does not recommend users use this utility to perform any tasks on a SWCS company

database unless directed by Solatech support. Doing so could corrupt the database and prevent

SWCS from being able to open or use the company.
