This article will explain the new features and updates to existing features that were introduced in version 5.0.187
Note: In this article, Q/S/O refers to quotes, sales and orders.
New Features
Local users can control what Q/S/O are synced and to what Roaming Workstations they are synced with
A new Watching feature has been added that allows local users to designate one or more Roaming Workstations to watch a Q/S/O. Only Roaming Workstations that have been designated to watch a particular Q/S/O will receive changes to the Q/S/O - other Roaming Workstations will not have it on their system. For more information on how to use this feature refer to this KB article.
Order data is backed up when syncing
The Roaming Workstation Sync Agent automatically backs up order data when it syncs quotes, sales, orders and purchase orders. This data is saved locally and is deleted automatically after 90 days.
Quotes, sales and orders cannot be modified while they are being synced for the first time
When a Q/S/O has been marked to be synced for the first time it cannot be modified until it has gone through the first part of the sync process and has been given a live quote/sale number. On a default installation this process can take up to 15 minutes.
The Roaming Workstation Sync Agent manages processed sync files differently
Sync files that have been processed are deleted differently now to prevent the Recycle Bin from getting filled with deleted files. The Sync Agent now moves them to a local folder where they are deleted after 3 days, instead of letting the file sharing service delete them. Some file sharing services move deleted files to the recycle bin instead of completely deleting the files which can cause the recycle bin to fill up with unwanted delete files. This is the new behavior by default but can be disabled from the Advanced tab on the Roaming Workstation Sync Agent.
Other
- A Reset Purchase Orders command was added to Order Entry. This command can be used to delete and re-create purchase orders for an existing sale or order. This should only be used under certain circumstances when purchase orders are not getting created or updated for an existing sale or order. Refer to this KB article for more information.
Updates to Existing Features
When and where quotes/sales/orders can be deleted has changed
Q/S/O that have been synced can only be deleted from a local system. This is to prevent Roaming Workstation users from deleting quotes/sales/orders that are not related to them but may have been synced to their machine regardless. When a Q/S/O is deleted from a local system it is automatically deleted from all Roaming Workstations that are watching that Q/S/O. Any attached purchase orders are also deleted.
The Roaming Workstation agent will automatically close when run on a local workstation that is not designated as the 'main system'
There is no need to have the Roaming Workstation Sync Agent run on local systems other than the main system. To prevent confusion when setting up local systems the sync agent will close automatically if it's not needed.
Other
- An event log entry is made when a sync reset is complete.
Bugs Fixed
- The next quote/sale/order and purchase order numbers are no longer synced; They don't apply to Roaming Workstations.
- Sometimes the first Q/S/O number on a roaming can be 1 instead of a reference number.
- Sometimes saving a Q/S/O was taking a long time.
- Installer comments don't always print on the installer form.
- Remove the default T&C file on some stock process reports.
- Don't attempt to create a new company if the SQL Server field is blank.
- Not all sync files are saved to history.
- Clicking Start Sync Agent via the options message should start the Sync Agent even if a company is not open.
- Order Entry is modal when run via the Create a Sale link under the Sales command.
