Overview

When sending email via Outlook the received email message content wraps in strange places even though it appears fine when sending and also when editing the email template.

For example:

"Thank you for your business. Your order number is 12345. Excluding any unforeseen delays, we expect your window coverings to be installed in approximately <<DeliveryRange>>. Once all of the items have arrived, we
will contact you to schedule the installation
."

Cause

This is sometimes caused by the way Outlook encodes (formats) the text for outgoing text email messages.

Solution

The solution is to adjust the outgoing encoding for messages to be Unicode (UTF-8).

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook
  2. From the File menu click Options, Advanced, International Options.
  3. Change the value for Preferred encoding for outgoing messages to: Unicode (UTF-8).
  4. Click OK.
